Dear Black Sea …
Perhaps characterized by some holidays around the world, this week has started slowly, and now it seems that the trend is the same, maintaining a negative feeling. Few outgoing businesses are putting pressure on the rates, which are slowly decreasing. The strongest route seems to be the transatlantic to the United States, where the Handy market does not present a nice situation in fact. The route to the Continent or to the West Mediterranean indeed, showed some fixtures even below 10,000$ per day for ships of size 28,000 DWT, showing a decrease of about 1,500$ compared to past weeks.
If we look at the tonnage list, we note that the number is around 45-50 units for the month of May, which compared to about 10-15 cargoes leaves a strong imbalance in terms of demand and supply.
The feelings are negative for now, the paper mostly shows the red colour for the month of May.
Meanwhile, a good signal comes from the activity in the Ukrainian ports, where the export of grains seems to recover with time, showing some more cargo for the month to come (most for Mediterranean destinations).
